A Son's Perspective

January 30, 20242 min read

Hey Dads,

Will Kubicek here, not just as the co-founder of Six Summers but as a son who experienced the shift of a father choosing to engage intentionally. I want to share a truth from a son’s perspective, and some insight we have found by studying fatherhood for the past years. Here is the big idea:

Without intentional action, fatherhood can slip into a cycle of guilt and lost influence.

Our Dad Road Map illustrates a crucial point:

when we don't actively pursue strong relationships with our families there is an exponential decline as father guilt, shame, and feeling like it is “too late”, chokes the truth. The lies that are told eventually become reality if action is not taken.

This isn't just about time spent; it's about building upward momentum through intentional actions that combat the natural flow of relationships.

In My life, My dad could have been a story of missed games and unshared dreams (where it was headed), but he chose a different narrative. He stepped into my world, valuing my passions, sparking conversations that would shape my character, and became a mentorwho stood by my side. That shift didn't just change my adolescence; it sculpted who I am today.

That's where Six Summers comes in. We understand the gravity of this journey and offer more than just adventures — we provide a blueprint for building lasting connections. With our resources and experiences, you can create a trajectory of growth, presence, and engagement with your teenagers, ensuring that the curve of your influence is upward.

Because of my dad's choice to be present, I learned to navigate life confidently — from competing in college athletics to launching successful startups and creating meaningful relationships. He was more than a father; he was the guide that every son or daughter deserves. That's the power you hold - choosing to be intentional.

Simple actions over time compound to fruitful relationships

Your Call to Action Consider this your invitation to break the cycle of 'trying' and move into a realm of 'doing.' As a community, we can rise above the guilt and build something extraordinary with our families.

Thank you for joining us in this journey to change the cycle of accidental fatherhood as we pursue intentionality, experience, and apprenticeship going forward

Thanks for reading,
